Hello, I’m David Alexander, founder of Phrec.
For more than a decade I worked for a global pharmaceutical and healthcare recruiter and enjoyed every moment of it. It’s a complex, challenging but very rewarding environment to work in.
And although it sounds cliched I genuinely love being a part of this industry. I’m passionate about the transformation we bring to people’s lives
The research, innovation and marketing of our product and services does so much good for so many people, overcoming illness and disability and giving ordinary people possibilities they just wouldn’t have otherwise.
What I increasingly wanted to do though was provide a more personalised, less corporate service to my clients – employing a team who were not recruitment generalists but proven specialists in just these industries.
So I created Phrec in 2020 – during the first lockdown, no less.
My intention was to be the single most reliable, effective and time-effective way for any company to hire clinical, sales and marketing personnel within the pharmaceutical, medical devices and healthcare industries.

All work and no play…
My work is also a part of my leisure time. I’m fascinated by the science and technology that underpins the products and services our industry creates. So I can often be found neck-deep in research papers or YouTube videos about new developments and important discoveries..!
My family keeps my feet firmly on the ground too – especially my two girls. In between school runs and homework I also love football – both as a player and a supporter.
And I have my own claim to fame: when I was a teenager I entered a chess tournament, pretty much on a whim. I expected to be finished by lunchtime – but somehow I kept on winning….
By the time I left the competition that evening I was the under-16 South-West Chess Champion!
